Archie's Birth

There really are no words to describe the feelings I had the moment Archer was born. I was so overcome with emotion and couldn't believe that we helped bring this beautiful baby into the world.

My sweet Mom told me a few weeks before Archie arrived that it's the most incredible experience to have your own child. When she had her first child, she remembered thinking, "why didn't someone tell me how amazing this is?!" Then she told me that she realized that you cannot really describe this to anyone!

We are so incredibly blessed to have such amazing family and friends that were there to support us. My cute parents were there the entire night waiting for our little Archie to come. I'm so grateful for them and for Andy's parents. I love them all so much.

We were also lucky to have our doula, Lesli, in the room with us taking pictures of this incredibly special time.

Archer Andrew Boyer

On Tuesday, February 1st we welcomed our beautiful baby boy into the world! He arrived at 1:11 pm weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces and 20 inches long.

Bush and Boyer Family Shower

My cute mother-in-law MarRae, and sister-in-law Michelle, and my Mom and sisters threw a wonderful shower for both the Bush Family and Boyer Family and friends. Amy hosted it at her house and it was awesome! I loved everything from the darling decorations and yummy food to the fun onesie activity and nice advice book.

It was so nice of them to do that and meant so much to me. I can't believe how much they spoiled us! MarRae gave us 2 incredible blankets (she made herself), lots of cute outfits, bath stuff and a darling teddy bear and blankie for Archie! Michelle gave me a darling carseat cover...that she made herself!

My awesome sisters/mom generously gave me the stroller we registered for and my mom surprised me with an amazing diaper bag she made that I absolutely love. We received tons of nice gifts from the rest of the family. It was so nice of everyone to come. I am so grateful for such wonderful family members that love and support us! We don't know what we would do without them. Archie is one spoiled little man!

Friend Baby Shower

Karadie, Olivia and Michelle hosted a baby shower for me at Red Butte Cafe. It was so fun to see all my cute friends. Megan Williams, Danielle, Nelsy and Megn Rae all made it too. It was so great to hear stories and get advice from some of them that are already amazing moms! I'm so lucky to have such great friends.

Perry Baby Shower

The cute Hale girls threw a wonderful Baby Shower for me. Everything was so amazing! They made hot chocolate, bagel sandwiches and had fruit and veggies to eat. They also made a darling Advice Book and everyone got to decorate a clothes hanger for Archie's closet. I absolutely loved it!

Family Ward Baby Shower

My parent's ward (Joyce Pettingill) threw me and Niki Bogle a Double Baby Shower back in the beginning of January. It was so nice and everyone was so thoughtful and generous! It was great to see so many of the faces that I grew up with. We were definitely spoiled!

Christmas Day 2010

We had such a wonderful Christmas this year! We woke up and made Hot Chocolate and Blueberry Muffins and listened to Roger Whitaker (tradition!) while we opened presents. This is the last year that it will be just Andy and I on Christmas morning. Although I really enjoy sharing Christmas morning with just us, it will be really fun to share it with our baby boy!

Andy surprised me (as you can see in the last picture...I had no idea) with an iPad! I totally freaked out.

After we opened all our presents we went to the Bushes and talked to Jimmy and then went over to the Boyer's to eat dinner and open more presents!

It was such a great Christmas!

Baby Garret Winkel

Hooray! Baby Garret Robert Winkel is finally here! He arrived on 3/24 at 8AM, weighing in at 6lbs 13 oz and 21 in long. He is adorable and we love him so. We are so excited to have him in our family!

Grandpa Jensen's Funeral

Just six days after Grandpa Boyer passed away, MarRae's dad, Grandpa Jensen died. It was a little bit of a shock, we knew he wasn't doing well but we thought he had a few more months. Grandpa Jensen was a very hard worker. He had a large fruit farm in Orem that he worked on for many years. Andy has told me how much he loved sports, and how he would always talk to him about the Jazz. He was a big Yankee fan and loved BYU football. MarRae spoke at the funeral and told an awesome story about how one morning she woke up about 6:30 AM and heard someone in her yard. She walked out to the back and there was her Dad planting a Peach tree.

The Saturday before he passed away, we drove to Heber with Lamar, MarRae, Rory, Nick and Michelle to see Grandpa and Grandma Jensen. I'm so glad Andy got to see him before he went, and to tell him he loved him and that he was a great Grandpa.

Grandpa Boyer's Funeral

A couple of weeks ago, we received a call from Andy's mom telling us that Lamar's dad had passed away. Grandpa Boyer was such a sweet man who always had a smile on his face. Andy's uncles, Allen and Max flew in and we had a dinner at Gary's house the Saturday before the funeral. Then there was a viewing on Sunday and the funeral on Monday. It was a very nice funeral.

My Birthday!

My birthday was on a Monday this year...which means celebrating from Friday to Monday--all weekend long! We rented a room from Noah's and played raquetball, wally-ball and pool all night long! It was awesome!

Then on Monday Andy took me to breakfast at Ruth's Diner and then we met the rest of the Bush fam (those that could make it) at Fro-gurt!

The Condo

For the past two years we have lived in a condo in Sandy. It has been a really great situation, and I've always really liked living here. It's really close to shopping, restaurants and work. I had no idea, that when we signed our rental agreement (month to month) that we would end up living here for two years! It's really been the last few months that we realized a lot of things we don't love about living in the condo like taking the elevator ride with arms full of groceries or taking Cooper down four flights of stairs to do his thing or not having any STORAGE (hence the photo of one of the bathtubs filled to the brim with stuff)!

For the past year we have been hunting for a house, we weren't in a huge hurry so we were looking at short-sales. Those things are anything but short! We offered on several houses...but never ended up with the house.

The first week of June we put an offer on a short-sale house that barely came on the market, and we just last week we heard back from the bank and they accepted our offer (well after they countered the offer and we accepted). It's official! We will be closing on November 13th and saying bye to our first home of two years.

Haunted Bus Tours

Friday night we drove up to Ogden and met with our friends Josh and Stephanie to go on a Haunted Bus Tour of Ogden. We had no idea what to expect, and we were a little nervous at first but it ended up being really fun!

We crammed into this school bus with a ton of other people and drove around main street Ogden, while a story -telling tour guide would tell us all of the ghost stories that occurred in each of buildings we drove past.

We ended up at the cemetery where the guide told some really spooky stories.

Frightmares

We went to Lagoon Frightmares last week, apparently along with everyone else and their dog! It was so packed last Saturday! But we had such a fun time...I mean it's what fun is! Amy, Kevin, Cole, Dailey, Amber and Maddie all went too!

Even though it was packed Andy and I still got to ride all of our favorites including Wicked...twice! I love Frightmares, you aren't dying of heat like in mid-summer and usually there are less people (not this time) and there are all these crazy dressed-up employees walking around trying to scare you. Ok, that's not my favorite--this kid dressed as a zombie walked up behind me and scared the crap out of me...I may have turned around and hit the poor thing. I can't help it...it's my natural reaction.

Brazil

Andy and I are going to Brazil in about two weeks!! MonaVie (the company I work for) gave us the opportunity to travel to Brazil with The MORE Project. The MORE Project is a nonprofit orgranization that seeks to change lives and restore families living in poverty in Brazil. We will be spending most of the time in Rio de Janeiro helping families re-build homes and playing soccer with kids after school. I'm so excited...and maybe a little nervous.

The Farmer's Market

Yesterday we went to the Farmer's Market in downtown Salt Lake. I loved it! There was fresh fruit and bread and flowers....it was like we were in Seattle. We bought a bag of apples and pears. There was one little booth that made fresh fruit pies...and they were delicious! It was the perfect Fall outing.

Appendi--what??

Sunday Night during Andy's birth party, he started to get a pain in his side. He actually didn't tell me about it until the morning when he called me on his way home from work at 7:30 AM. He had only been at work for a half-hour when the pain in his stomach got so bad he couldn't do anything.

We went into the InstaCare and they told us to go straight to the Emergency Room. After a few tests and a CT Scan they confirmed it was appendicitis. The poor thing...the day after Andy's birthday he had to get an emergency surgery to get his appendix out!

A few hours later he was in surgery getting his appendix removed! It was a crazy long day! The funny thing is the day before he was talking to his mom about her upcoming shoulder surgery and Andy mentioned how much he wants to get surgery done...I guess that was his birthday wish coming true!

Let the WILD Rumpus Start

Last Sunday we celebrated Andy's 27th Birthday! We really started celebrating on Friday--it was an all weekend event! On Friday we went with the Boyer's to dinner at Red Robin and then to see a movie.

Then Sunday we went to dinner at the Bushes and celebrated some more! We threw Andy a "Where the Wild Things Are" party! This is Andy's favorite book as a kid and he is sooo excited for the movie to come out later this month.

We read the story to the kids and gave them all "Wild Thing" masks to wear, and of course Andy had his crown just like Max. After the story we sang "Happy Birthday" and ate "Wild Thing" cupcakes. Happy Birthday baby...I love you with all my heart!

Priesthood Meeting and Carmel Apples

Last weekend we watched General Conference. I love watching conference and hearing from the leaders of our church. This is one of my favorite weekends! On Saturday night we all met at my parents house and the boys went to the General Priesthood meeting. When they got back we made caramel apples and then the boys gave a re-cap on their meeting.

2 Years Baby!

A couple of weeks ago Andy and I celebrate two years as husband and wife! We took a road trip to St. George and stayed at one of my friend's home in Hurricane--it was beautiful. We drove down on Friday and on Saturday we went down to Vegas and shopped then went to the LOVE Beatles Cirque du Solei show. It was amazing!

Sunday we played all day in the sun and swam in the pool! That night we (as in Andy) BBQ'd it up. It was his first time cooking steaks on the grill and they tasted awesome! Later we watched a movie in the hot tub!

I love Andy Boyer because:

1. he writes me love notes on sticky's that have googley eyes on them.
2. he winks at me from across the room.
3. we have a secret handshake.
4. when we're watching t.v. he pulls me from across the couch to cuddle.
5. he always gets rid of moths that try to attack my eyelashes.
6. he sings Dixie Chicks songs with me at the top of our lungs.
7. he lets me go "Garage Sale'ing" every Saturday...and always gives me an item to look for.
8. he loves the Jazz.
9. he never gets embarrassed...he always tries to get me to yell out things like "D-Will" in crowded places.
10. he has an incredible testimony of the gospel and is a strong priesthood holder.
11. he always is the one to remind us to read the Book of Mormon each night.
12. he puts a smile on my face every day...and always makes me laugh.

I love you baby and I love that we get to spend forever together!

An Old-Fashioned Picnic

South Jordan City put on an Old Fashioned Picnic a few months ago. It was the cutest thing ever! After parking your car down the street, you got to ride in on a horse and buggy, not so much a buggy as a wagon I guess. They had popcorn, sno cones and old fashioned games to play. Don't worry, Andy and I took the liberty to dress-up in our old-fashioned wear...no no it was not mandatory or really even advertised as optional!

We had the annual BBQ on the beach at Bear Lake. This time we played Croquet...a first at Bear Lake. It was the funniest game of Croquet I've ever played. Ben got "poison" first and the rest of us were trying to "run" away from him. Creig even built an obstacle of leaves and sticks to avoid Ben's ball from "killing" him.

Tyler's Baptism

Tyler was baptized yesterday! It is so crazy to think that our oldest nephew on the Bush side is old enough to be baptized. Tyler is such an amazing kid, and it is so fun to watch him grow up. He is such a great example to his younger siblings and cousins.

A Night of Twilight

I found this on the counter when I got home from work last week. I instantly started laughing and couldn't stop! Apparently, Andy got off work a little early one night and this is what he did.

I love the choice of the movie quote that he went with--that's easily the worst line in the dang movie. Andy is my favorite person in the world, and I love that he can constantly makes me laugh. P.S. Look at the proportion of our heads--I love it!

Where in the World is Jimmy going?

Jimmy turned his mission papers in a few weeks ago. So last Sunday we all posted our guesses on the World map of where we thought he was going to go.

Jimmy checked the mail day after day-- and last Wednesday there was a big white envelope!

He was called to serve in the Atlanta, Georgia Mission!!! Congratulations Jimmy, we're so excited for you!

I Love to see the Temple

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go as a family to the Draper Temple Open House. It was so cool be there as a family with all the grand kids and be in that beautiful building. We met a church and rode the bus up to the temple site. Then we got to walk through and see all of the rooms.

Top Secret

Amber turned 30 at the beginning of the month and so we wanted to do something special for the big event! We decided to throw a Surprise "Top Secret" Birthday party for her. The planning was a lot of fun, we sent Top Secret invitations requesting agents to arrive at 6:30 SHARP, because the target would promptly arrive at 7.

We made favor bags for each agent with a mustache disguise, a notebook, a magnifying glass and and a Secret Spy badge. As the agents arrived they created their alias and fixed their disguise. It was so fun to see all of Amber's family and friends there in disguises ready to celebrate Amber's birthday.

My Mom and Amy made Top Secret Agent cupcakes and a BOMB cake for Amber. We ended the night with a game of Mafia. It was really fun and the best part was that Amber had no idea!

My Birthday

It's been awhile since we posted, so I thought would update with a few posts from the past few months. Back in January we celebrated my "Golden" birthday on the 25th--I turned the big 2-5! I had such a fun birthday, and since it was on a Sunday we celebrated all weekend long. Friday after work we went to a cute little cupcake called "Mini's" in downtown Salt Lake. The night before Andy took me to a restaurant called Five Alls and it was awesome! Then the next day we went to my family's and had dinner and celebrated with cake and ice cream and played a little Family Feud.

Deck the Halls

We decorated for Christmas the other night! We put up the tree and hung the stockings and I was loving every second of it...but the one thing missing was Roger Whittaker on the iPod whistling those sweet sounds of Christmas.

I bought our very first Nativity set last night. I haven't done a lick of Christmas shopping yet, that's my plan this weekend! I can't wait to bring all the purchases home and wrap, wrap wrap! That is one of my favorite things to do.

Jazz vs Suns

So this last Monday Liz and I went to the Jazz game. They were playing the aging but still entertaining Phoenix Suns. They are probably the only team we root for besides the Jazz mostly because of that fire cracker Steve Nash. Watching him play is like watching little kids open presents on christmas morning you cant help but smile. Its kind of weird that a 6'2 white guy from Canada was the NBA MVP 2 years in row. So we were running a little late to the game but running late to a game is completely normal for us. Hey it was a Monday and we were both a little tired so please save your judgments for when you're watching your favorite reality show. So we didn't have time to grab anything to eat before the game so we decided to just get something at halftime and what we got was more than any man could ask for.

We ran down to the lower bowl to find some crap to push in our faces when an angel of a man tapped me on my shoulder and from the second he touched me I knew I would never forget him. He asked me and Liz how many people we had in our party? And when he was doing this I couldn't help but notice he was holding two tickets in his left hand. I was trying not to sound too eager when I told him it was just me and the mrs but as I said this my hand was slowly defying what my brain was telling it not to do and was going up to grab the tickets. After we told him he asked us if we wanted to take his tickets because him and his girlfriend were leaving then a huge choir of angels began singing and he told us that his seats are on the 3rd row and we could just go on down there and enjoy the game. We said we would have to think about it and that we would call when we made our decision. Of course thats a lie. We gladly accepted and then simultaneously peed our pants. He handed me the tickets and we looking them over and saw that they were $477.00 a seat we couldn't believe it. All the love and respect I had for that man went right down the toilet, only one flush needed. Who would spend close to a thousand dollars on tickets and leave at halftime? Oh are you feeling ill? Did you forget to set the tivo to record dancing with the stars? But I couldn't dwell on what his problems were because at that point I didnt have a problem in the world.

So we started skipping down the stairs to our seats lower and lower. We actually had to go on to the court to get to our seats and that is just a great feeling. When we were walking on the court the two teams were warming up and walked over to Boozer and said "hey Booz, listen the only thing about Shaq you have to worry about is the smell!" He laughed really hard and said "thats why I have these earplugs shoved up my nose!" And he really did have them up there. Then we both laughed again then he hugged me and I walked away. I could tell Korver was jealous but if he isnt going to make an effort, Im not going to make and effort. So we finally get to our seats and they are amazing. I couldnt breathe for the first ten minutes.We were sitting right across from the Suns bench. Right behind Larry H. Millers seats. Its a total diffrent game down there you can hear them yell at each other you can see so much of what is really going on. And Shaq is a freak. He is so big when you are close up. So to top it all off the Jazz beat the Suns. It was one of the greatest nights me and Liz have had with the Jazz but it will get surpassed this spring when they finally get that championship. Go Jazz.

Vegas Vacation

Andy and I headed to Las Vegas a few weekends ago as a postponed Anniversary trip. We had such a great time! We went all out and rented a red Mustang convertible to drive around—let’s just say that was Andy’s favorite part of the trip! We did a lot of shopping and saw one of our favorite bands, Kings of Leon, in concert at the Hard Rock Hotel.

My highlight of the trip was seeing the Neil Diamond tribute. So it wasn’t “the real Neil” but it was the Neil you want to see. The impersonator (Jay White) did this whole Neil Diamond tribute and it was amazing! He played all the good Neil songs that we all love. I only wish the whole Bush fam could have been there singing “Cracklin’ Rosie” with us.

Blogging about Blogs

Well since my sweet little wife already thinks she is a blogger--even without her having her own blog, we decided to take the plunge into the world wide web and start our very own Boyer Blog.

For the past six months or so a few times a week Liz will mention things that she think she should blog about. Things like: "if the world was 10% more considerate there would be 50% less stress and problems", "the right and wrong way to write an email at work", "Utah seemed safer when Dick Nourse read the news, am I right?" and "going through the transition from sno cones to hot chocolate." So there is some of the insight that you will be getting from this blog in the future. And maybe I'll be feeding you guys some knowledge dipped nuggets along the way as well so stay tuned.
